Amongst his many royal duties, including Education and Skills, Science Tech and Engineering, the Duke of York advocates ‘Entrepreneurship’.  
He states…
“Supporting a more general culture of Entrepreneurship in the UK is vital to our future prosperity”.

IDEA
The Duke of York aims to support entrepreneurs by kick starting and boosting their business activities.  He is also active in supporting the education aspect of entrepreneurship, which enables people of obtain the skills and qualities required for a successful business venture.
To this end, the Duke is involved in a number campaigns and initiatives, most notably his joint venture with The Black Eyed Pea member and The Voice judge, Will.I.Am.  iDEA – the Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award scheme.  In brief, this scheme aims to support 16-25 year olds develop a digital business venture.  The campaign is currently being piloted with the hope of it being rolled out nationally, later in the year.  For more information on this campaign, click here.

Pitch@Palace

Pitch@Palace was launched earlier this year to ‘amplify and accelerate the journeys of entrepreneurs in the UK and their start-up businesses’.  This year, 36 entrepreneurs pitched their businesses to an audience of angel investors, venture capitalists, prospective mentors and CEO’s. The Duke of York Entrepreneur of the Year Award

This award was launched in 2013 as part of the National Business Awards UK, which was held in Liverpool this year at the start of the inaugural International Festival of Business 2014. 

Ten semi-finalists presented a three minute pitch at a live event that took place this June at St George’s Hall.  Ten were shortlisted to five and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, later this year in November.  The final score for the awards is based on a public vote, and you can help by visiting this page and casting your view on the finalists.
